Learn what to do in the event of an earthquake. We will discuss the mechanics of earthquakes, choices to make when the shaking begins and how it might affect the Seattle area. Gain tools to help in preparation, staying safe and how to recover as quickly as possible. Learn how to deal with the aftermath of an earthquake and how it will affect infrastructure like roadways, underground pipes, cell signals and electricity. Design a plan to communicate and connect with loved ones while minimizing disruption for your family, neighbors, and community. Understand the city's disaster plans and what to expect regarding schools, shelters, and emergency responders. We will also discuss urban survival skills and the psychological impact of a disaster and how best to manage.
