ID : 32179
« back to classes page

Learn how to plant and care for tree peonies, herbaceous peonies and Itoh hybrids. These sturdy deciduous perennials produce gorgeous blooms that remain upright on the bush. China has been cultivating this "king of flowers" for more than 1,500 years. An illustrated presentation reveals their cultural significance and introduces you to some of the most popular varieties. You will see bushes in bloom at the Seattle Chinese Garden. Landscape designer and SCG horticulture chair Phil Wood will explain and demonstrate proper techniques for planting and maintenance, and provide printed instructions. Potted rootstock from Luoyang, China's "peony capital,"  will be available for purchase.
