C/N Haiku: An Introduction

This class in writing Haiku poetry will initially examine its history and some of its classic exponents: Basho, Buson, & Issa.  Techniques and guidelines will be provided to enable students to compose and write their own Haiku in class each week.  Haiku poems, often inspired by nature, are characterized by their brevity and simplicity.  The best Haiku can reveal the poetic truth in everyday living.  Haiku poetry is a compelling and meditative journey along life's way.
